《揭開神秘的面紗──瑪麗醫院兒童及青少年精神科個案實錄》

主流社會對「精神病」三個字往往帶着莫名的恐懼，近年情況雖有改善，但仍有不少人諱疾忌醫。瑪麗醫院精神科部門主管陳國齡醫生每天接觸不同精神病個案，深明除了關心病人、對症下藥外，公眾教育亦尤其重要。
過去七年，陳醫生每月於《黃巴士Light》親子月報的專欄，跟讀者分享不同的兒童及青少年精神病案例，今年首次將其輯錄成書，期望促進社會大眾對精神病的認識。本書涵蓋的個案包括常見的專注力不足／過度活躍症、自閉症、抑鬱症、焦慮症、強迫症，以至較罕見的思覺失調、妥瑞症及跨性別身份障礙等，為病患者、家屬以至公眾，揭開精神病神秘的面紗。

Is depression curable? Why should anxiety disorders be handled in anxiety-provoking settings? What are the causes of wrist cutting? Why does a child who behaves normally at home refuse to speak at school?
The term “mental disorder” is often viewed with some kind of unspeakable uneasiness in the mainstream society. Although the situation has improved in recent years, many are still afraid to talk about it, not to mention seeking medical advice when symptoms arise. Dr. Phyllis Chan, Chief of Service of the Department of Psychiatry in Queen Mary Hospital, works with different cases of mental disorders every day; she understands deeply that the best cure for mental disorders are not only care and medication, but also public education.
For the past seven years, Dr. Chan has been sharing different cases of child and adolescent psychiatry as a columnist of Yellow Bus Light, a monthly parenting magazine. To promote understanding of mental disorders among the general public, the shared cases which include the commonly known attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, autism, depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder, as well as the less known psychosis, Tourette syndrome and transsexualism, are compiled into this book. It is hoped that it will serve as a window to the world of mental disorders for the patients, their family and also the public.
